Our insights are based on extensive involvement with various environmental initiatives and educational programs at our school, aimed at fostering a sustainable and eco-conscious community.
Q) How does your school integrate education on sustainability, and global warming into the student’s curriculum? Or do you conduct any special projects or competitions for the students?
Our school integrates education on sustainability and global warming into the curriculum through various projects, events, and initiatives. For instance, we have incorporated activities such as biodiversity surveys and mapping, symposiums on green technology, and hands-on projects like maintaining a herbal and kitchen garden.
Additionally, students participate in state-level science exhibitions and various competitions that focus on environmental themes, such as the "Climate Science Olympiad," encouraging critical thinking and active participation in sustainability efforts.
Topics on sustainability and global warming are integrated in social science curriculum specially geography and economics at the secondary and senior secondary levels. These topics are discussed in the class room and also assessments are conducted on topics like saving electricity, using alternative sources of energy, saving water and mineral resources etc. Project work related to the topic is also done.

Modern School was awarded the first position in the ‘Green School Award’ organized by the Government of NCT of Delhi.
On the occasion of the World Environment Day, Modern School was declared the overall winner amongst 50 schools and colleges from Delhi NCR. The Harit Umang Olympiad is organised by Panasonic India in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Digital India and Bureau of Energy Efficiency is a year-long school awareness program.
Beyond the regular curriculum, our school conducts several programs and events to educate students about sustainability and global warming. These include intra-school competitions like poster-making, slogan-writing, and debates on environmental issues, as well as webinars with experts in the field. Furthermore, we organize clean-up drives, tree-planting initiatives in collaboration with local organizations, and awareness campaigns that highlight the importance of reducing plastic use and conserving natural resources. The Visual art department of the school often engages students in art work on themes like save the natural resources, reduce carbon emission.
