Digitalization and technological practices are at the core of new educational policies at present. Training children in accordance with their competency, skill set and interest has gained popularity over traditional curriculum.
Dr. Suresh Reddy, is one of those experts who have understood the right way to impart education effectively. ET TECH X highlights the key insights from the interview with Dr. Suresh Reddy, the Founder and Chairperson of Saketh Educational Trust, who has established Candor International School in Bangalore, Karnataka, Candor NPS in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
His vision is to ensure that school education in India, in addition to providing academic excellence, also draws out and develops every student’s potential in Academics, Arts, and Sports.
He aims to ensure that students make a seamless transition between Indian and Western schooling systems through exchange programmes for students, as well as teachers.
My journey began a decade ago when I was in the US. I started nurturing the concept of starting an educational institution back in 2007, and I realized the dream in 2011. My vision is to provide international education that was affordable, accessible, holistic and taught children real-world skills.
Candor has grown from strength to strength, and we have seen an excellent response to the international curricula that we offer. And keeping the national curriculum in mind, we have come up with a CBSE school at Tirupati, with the concept of an International Curriculum, The CBSE envisions a robust, vibrant and holistic school education that will engender excellence in every sphere of human endeavour. The Board is committed to provide quality education to promote intellectual, social and cultural vivacity among its learners. It works toward evolving a learning process and environment, which empowers the future citizens to become global leaders in the emerging knowledge society. The Board puts emphasis on holistic development of learners by providing a stress-free learning environment that will develop competent, confident, and enterprising citizens who will promote harmony and peace.
My inspiration was the children, I feel morally obliged to the children of India to provide an environment that is safe, encouraging, and holistic. Children deserve an environment in which they can safely learn the skills required to excel in an increasingly competitive world. A simple textbook education system is not enough. Our children need to learn moral and ethical integrity coupled with leadership skills in order to succeed.

Innovation doesn’t happen in a vacuum but requires openness and interactions between systems and their environments. This is also very much the case for education. Schools cannot be left alone to make the difficult process of transformation, but need support not only through policies, but also from various factors. In recent years the emergent education industry has taken on a very important role. This role is not simply defined by commercial corporate interests selling products and services to schools but is increasingly framed into a much wider concern for genuine innovation.
First of all, educational innovations can improve learning outcomes and the quality of education provision. For example, changes in the educational system or in teaching methods can help customise the educational process. New trends in personalised learning rely heavily on new ways of organising schools and the use of ICT.
Second, education is perceived in most countries as a means of enhancing equity and equality. Innovations could help enhance equity in the access to and use of education, as well as equality in learning outcomes.
Finally, the education sector should therefore introduce the changes it needs to adapt to societal needs. For example, education systems need to adopt teaching, learning or organisational practices that have been identified as helping to foster “Skills for Innovation”
A key to effective Leadership is the ability to define outcomes, but then helps individuals put their talents to use to get there. The best leaders know their people and are more aware of those people’s strengths than they are of their weaknesses. Great leaders aren’t blind to their own or others’ weaknesses; they just know that their competitive edge lies within their strengths. When “Leader(s) go beyond their responsibilities and assume informal and formal roles within the school to influence and enhance instruction and learning for all students. The is leader who holds the professional identity as an educator and demonstrates leadership within the classroom, school, community and beyond, either through formal or informal roles.
Leadership can take many forms, but most often it looks like: Acting as an advocate for their school and the needs of students, Leading a professional association / union, serving as a mentor, coach, peer assistant, or peer reviewer, working in instructional design, assessment design, or a curriculum planner, monitoring improvement efforts and participating in administrative meetings, engaging parent and community participation.
