BioAsia 2024, one of the marque life sciences and healthcare conferences in the country, was inaugurated in Hyderabad on February 27, initiating intense deliberations on the latest developments, opportunities, and challenges in the life sciences space.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated Bio Asia 2024 Summit at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).
The Chief Minister announced that the State Government would establish the next phase of Genome Valley near Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore in 300 acres.
He stated that the State Government was establishing 10 pharma villages with a whopping investment of Rs 1 lakh crore. These pharma villages were aimed to develop infrastructure, generate new jobs, and create opportunities for entrepreneurs, with an anticipated creation of about 5 lakh new jobs.
Genome Valley, Shamirpet is the epicentre of the life sciences activities in the State. Genome Valley houses the largest concentration of international standard multi-tenanted facility in the country.
Christopher Boerner, CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb; Gregg Semenza, Nobel Laureate and Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine; and Rodney Hochman, President & CEO of the US-based Providence, delivered the keynote addresses on the inaugural day. The theme for the 21st edition is ‘Transforming Life Sciences with Data and AI’.
The three-day event, however, began here on 26th February, with delegates visiting a few facilities of life sciences companies.
