Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Seeks Microsoft’s Support to Position Hyderabad as a Global Tech Hub
Ahead of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos this January, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Microsoft CEO and Chairman Satya Nadella at his residence in Hyderabad to discuss the IT giant’s potential support in establishing Hyderabad as a global leader in technology.
In a bid to attract significant investments from Microsoft, the Chief Minister highlighted key state government initiatives aimed at boosting the Information Technology industry. These include the development of the Open AI City and the Future City. CM Revanth Reddy, along with IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, also presented various technology priorities for Telangana, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, and cloud computing, while seeking Microsoft’s collaboration on these fronts.
Additionally, the Chief Minister shared his plans for large-scale infrastructure development, including the construction of the Regional Ring Road, radial roads, the Future City, and new manufacturing clusters. He also outlined efforts to create a skilled workforce through initiatives like the Young India Skills University.
Satya Nadella expressed Microsoft’s commitment to partnering with Telangana on these initiatives. He praised the Chief Minister’s vision for skill enhancement and infrastructure development, emphasizing that these two factors are key to positioning Hyderabad among the top 50 cities in the world for economic growth.
The Chief Minister thanked Nadella for Microsoft’s ongoing investments and expansion in the state. Microsoft, one of the first major technology companies to establish a presence in Hyderabad, now employs over 10,000 people and has invested in a 600 MW data center capacity in the region.
