AICTE Unveils New BBA Curriculum: Bridging Education and Industry Needs
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has unveiled a draft framework for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. This new curriculum, designed for both three- and four-year courses, aims to align educational offerings with industry demands and emerging trends.
A notable feature of the revised curriculum is the inclusion of internships, providing students with practical experience alongside their academic studies. According to an AICTE circular, BBA, BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies), and BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) programs are now under the council’s jurisdiction, requiring adherence to AICTE guidelines starting this year.
The curriculum has been developed with input from industry and academic experts to address current market needs. It is structured to encompass 120 to 160 credits over three or four years, emphasizing interdisciplinary learning and experiential teaching methods, alongside a focus on industry-related projects.
Key skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication are prioritized, reflecting their importance in today’s business landscape. The inclusion of internships aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, enhancing students' employability while fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
Institutions will have the flexibility to adapt the curriculum to meet local requirements. Additionally, the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell will now manage the centralized admission process for the BBA program, transitioning from the previous model where individual colleges handled admissions.
