Empowering Future Innovators: AICTE Chairman Inspires Graduates at UoH 24th Convocation

Degrees serve as more than just certificates; they are keys to unlocking limitless possibilities, emphasized T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), during the University of Hyderabad's 24th convocation ceremony. Addressing graduates, their families, and faculty at the Global Peace Auditorium, Brahma Kumaris-Shanti Sarovar, Mr. Sitharam encouraged students to continue their skilling journeys and aspire to become job creators rather than merely job seekers.

Celebrating the university's Golden Jubilee, he highlighted AICTE's transformation from a regulatory body to a catalyst for innovation and research across the nation. He noted the establishment of the Institution's Innovation Council, which has fostered a vibrant startup ecosystem resulting in 6,600 startups and the issuance of 18,000 patents. Mr. Sitharam underscored the goal of enabling every graduate to become an entrepreneur and actively contribute to the economy.

Governor and Chief Rector Jishnu Dev Varma advised students to balance academic excellence with social responsibility, emphasizing their potential to drive positive change. He quoted Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and former President APJ Abdul Kalam, asserting that education should empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to society.

Chancellor Justice L. Narasimha Reddy referred to the graduates as torchbearers of the university's legacy, urging them to embrace entrepreneurship and enhance India's global standing. He also presented Chancellor's awards to five young faculty members for their exceptional contributions to teaching and research.

Vice Chancellor B.J. Rao reaffirmed UoH's commitment to progressive education. He noted the implementation of the National Education Policy-2020 for undergraduates since 2022, with plans to extend it to postgraduates this year.

During the ceremony, degrees were conferred to 1,746 students, including 236 PhD scholars, and 164 students received medals. Faculty research output has increased significantly, with each member now averaging three published papers per year.
