ONGC Scholarship Program for Economically Weaker Meritorious Students

 

The ONGC is offering a total of 2,000 scholarships valued at ₹4,000 per month, equating to ₹48,000 per annum, for economically weaker meritorious students from the General Category, OBC, and SC/ST backgrounds. This scholarship is aimed at students pursuing first-year professional courses in the Engineering and Medical streams, as well as Master’s degree programs in Business Administration, Geology, or Geophysics. Of the total scholarships, 50% are reserved for girl students.

Eligibility Criteria and Duration

  • Engineering:
    • Eligibility: 10+2
    • Duration: 4 years
  • MBBS:
    • Eligibility: 10+2
    • Duration: 4 years
  • MBA:
    • Eligibility: Graduation
    • Duration: 2 years
  • Masters in Geology/Geophysics:
    • Eligibility: Graduation
    • Duration: 2 years

Scholarship Distribution

Scholarships will be allocated across five different zones. The specific zone for application depends on the location of the University/Institute/College where the student completed their qualifying examination.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must have enrolled in the first year of a full-time regular course for the academic year 2024-25.
  • A minimum of 60% marks or an OGPA/CGPA of 6.0 (on a 10-point scale) in the qualifying examination is required.
  • The gross annual family income must be below ₹2 Lakhs for general and OBC applicants; for SC/ST applicants, it should be below ₹4.5 Lakhs.
  • Applicants must not exceed 30 years of age as of 16.10.2024.

Application Process

Applications can be submitted online at www.ongcscholar.org until 10th October 2024. The completed application must include all supporting documents, certified and attested by the Head/Principal/Dean of the respective institution. These documents should also be submitted in hard copy to the designated ONGC office as specified in the application format.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on their aggregate marks in the qualifying examination for their respective courses. In case of a tie in marks, preference will be given to candidates with lower family incomes. Students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families will be prioritized; others will be considered only if sufficient BPL candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are not available. Selected candidates must not be receiving any other scholarships or financial assistance from alternative sources.
