MongoDB Expands Academia Program in India: Partners with AICTE and GeeksforGeeks to Upskill Over 150,000 Students

MongoDB has announced the expansion of its MongoDB for Academia program in India, including a new partnership with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a ministry under the Government of India.

This partnership will leverage SmartBridge’s SmartInternz learning platform to offer over 150,000 Indian students access to virtual internships and the skills needed to effectively use MongoDB Atlas, a leading multi-cloud developer data platform.

Launched in September 2023, the program aims to equip students with full-stack development skills through 60 hours of experiential learning, boot camps, courses, project work, and simulated corporate environments.

In addition to student training, the program provides curriculum resources for educators, free credits for MongoDB technology, and certifications to help individuals launch careers in the tech industry. To further this initiative, MongoDB has also partnered with GeeksforGeeks, a prominent resource platform for computer science in India. This collaboration will involve the integration of MongoDB's Developer Learning Path into GeeksforGeeks' online and offline centers, reaching over 100,000 aspiring developers among its 25 million registered users.

Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar, CEO of Anuvadini AI and Chief Coordinating Officer at AICTE, highlighted the potential of AI and modern technologies to transform lives and the economy. “To seize this opportunity, our developers must be equipped with the right skills. We’re excited to partner with MongoDB to make this possible,” he said.

MongoDB's goal for the MongoDB for Academia program is to upskill 500,000 students. So far, the initiative has established over 200 partnerships with educational institutions and collaborations with various government and private entities. To date, more than 100,000 students have received training, accumulating over 450,000 hours of learning.

Sachin Chawla, Area Vice President of India at MongoDB, expressed enthusiasm about the program's impact. “India has a vibrant developer community, and MongoDB is committed to supporting and empowering the next generation of tech talent in the country,” he said.
