CBSE Regional Office and Centre of Excellence in Dubai Hosts Meeting with Heads of Affiliated Schools in UAE
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi recently hosted a significant educational event, as officials from the newly established Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Regional Office and Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Dubai met with principals and heads of CBSE-affiliated schools across the UAE.
The interactive session, held in the embassy auditorium, saw participation from representatives of 28 schools. This event marked a crucial step in strengthening the relationship between the Indian education board and its international school community. The establishment of the CBSE Regional Office and CoE in Dubai was announced by the Prime Minister of India on February 13, 2024, during his visit to the UAE. The office officially began operations on July 2, 2024, at the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of the new CBSE office in Dubai. Ambassador Sudhir noted that this development represents a significant advancement in enhancing support and resources for students and educators in the UAE. He highlighted how such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening educational ties between India and the UAE, and he commended the UAE’s ongoing support for the Indian educational community.
Dr. Ram Shankar, Director of the CBSE Regional Office and CoE in Dubai, provided an overview of the CBSE’s functions and objectives. Dr. Shankar detailed the board’s commitment to the continuous professional development of principals, teachers, special educators, and counselors in affiliated schools. He emphasized that the Dubai office aims to improve support and communication with regional schools, contributing to the overall enhancement of the educational system.
The session concluded with a productive discussion between the principals, heads of schools, and CBSE officials, focusing on various educational issues and collaborative opportunities. This meeting signifies a key step in the CBSE’s efforts to expand its influence, reflecting the growing global significance of Indian education.
