Kreedo Secures $4 Million in Series A Funding to Expand Early Childhood Education in India
Kreedo Early Childhood Solutions, a Bengaluru-based edtech startup, has announced the successful closure of a USD 4 million Series A funding round. The investment was led by Singapore-based Heritas Capital, with significant contributions from existing investor UBS Optimus Foundation and notable participants including Gray Matters Capital, 1Crowd, The Chennai Angels, and The Joka Angel Network.
This new capital will be crucial for advancing Kreedo's product offerings and expanding its reach into new regions across India.
Mridula Shridhar, Co-founder of Kreedo, commented, "This funding round will enable us to extend our presence into more geographies within India. Given the growing demand from our school partners, we plan to broaden our product offerings to include Grades 3-5 and enhance Practico, our digital home learning platform."
She added, "We will also scale our specialized pre-primary teacher training franchise program to develop a pool of job-ready, qualified teachers for both Kreedo partner schools and the broader early education market. These initiatives align with our mission to democratize and transform early education in India."
Founded in 2012 by Mridula Shridhar and VK Manikandan, Kreedo partners with affordable private schools and preschools to revolutionize early childhood education through its innovative 6T learning framework. This model, centered around Kreedo Activity Labs, offers a structured play-based learning environment that integrates toys, technology, theory, teacher training, a timetable, and teamwork, aligning with NEP 2020 guidelines.
In the past two years, Kreedo has experienced substantial growth, doubling its revenue, increasing its reach from 700 to 1,700 schools/preschools, and expanding the number of children benefiting from its programs from 55,000 to over 140,000.
Chik Wai Chiew, CEO and Executive Director of Heritas Capital, stated, "With this new funding, we are excited to support Kreedo’s founders and other impact investors in enhancing affordable private schools and teacher training. We believe Kreedo’s proven track record and innovative plans will drive community efforts to improve the educational experiences and futures of children across India."
Regis and Savoy Pvt Ltd, along with Zanskar Advisors, acted as advisors for this funding round.
