The UGC’s official notification states: "This follows our earlier communication dated 24th July 2024 concerning the activities to be undertaken by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in honor of the inaugural National Space Day on August 23, 2024."
The Government of India will host a nationwide celebration on August 23, 2024, to mark the first National Space Day. This date was designated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3.
The celebration aims to engage and inspire the youth regarding space technology and its applications. This year’s theme is "Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga."
The UGC has requested HEIs to organize various events such as conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and Space Ideathons. Students are encouraged to participate in the Bhartiya Antriksh Hackathon and ISRO Robotics Challenge.
Additionally, HEIs are asked to report their activities on the University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP) via the Google form available on the UGC website.
