AICTE Chairman Highlights AI's Transformative Impact on Lives
The Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), T.G. Sitharam, emphasized recently that emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) are revolutionizing various aspects of life, offering tremendous potential for the future.
He made these remarks during the 14th Graduation Day ceremony at the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in the city. A total of 717 students qualified to receive their degrees across various branches of engineering. Among them, 42 achieved top ranks, 8 earned BE with Honors, and 9 were awarded PhDs.
Mr. Sitharam pointed out that while technological advancements promise significant benefits, they also raise concerns about their impact on employment, decision-making processes, and society at large.
"As machines and AI systems become increasingly sophisticated, there is apprehension regarding job security in certain sectors," he noted. "Instead of fearing these changes, we should embrace them and adapt to sustainable growth strategies."
Highlighting the importance of staying updated with advanced technologies amidst disruptive innovations, Mr. Sitharam stressed the need for students to maintain a strong spirit of continuous learning.
He described AI as a powerful tool whose impact on the world depends on how it is utilized. "As future leaders, innovators, and decision-makers, you have the opportunity to shape its impact positively," he encouraged.
Mr. Sitharam urged students to embrace AI with a mindset focused on creativity, responsibility, and inclusivity, emphasizing their role in harnessing its potential for the greater good.
