Tech hubs like Hyderabad are defying the national trend of declining IT job postings by experiencing remarkable growth. According to data from Indeed, a global hiring platform, Hyderabad is cementing its position as a major Information Technology (IT) hub, witnessing a significant increase in IT job opportunities.
Data compiled from job postings and job clicks on Indeed’s platform between April 2023 and April 2024 reveal a remarkable 41.5 per cent surge in IT job postings in Hyderabad, surpassing Bengaluru's 24 per cent rise. This surge underscores the growing appeal of Hyderabad for IT professionals seeking fresh career prospects.
Furthermore, there has been a substantial surge in job seeker interest, with Hyderabad experiencing a remarkable 161 per cent increase in job clicks, compared to an 80 per cent rise in Bengaluru. This indicates a strong interest among job seekers in Hyderabad's flourishing tech sector.
However, despite this growth in specific tech hubs, the national landscape for IT jobs has witnessed a slight downturn. Across the country, IT job postings have declined by 3.6 per cent, reflecting cautious hiring practices by tech companies amidst the uncertain global economic climate.
Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India, commented on the trend, stating, “Software and IT positions are highly sought after, not only by those currently employed in the field but also by individuals seeking new career opportunities.” He added, “Despite layoffs, the appeal of IT jobs has increased. This heightened interest in IT may also be attributed to the extensive skill specialization, training, and experience typically required for these roles.”
Indeed’s data highlights the top IT skills currently in demand, including Analysis skills (5.51%), Agile methodologies (5.39%), APIs (4.5%), JavaScript (4%), and SQL (4%).
